The United States (US) embassy in Guyana on Sunday warned American citizens not to fly on Caribbean Airlines flights from Monday to Wednesday because of "threat" information.

"The Embassy has received unconfirmed threat information relating to Caribbean Airlines flights destined for the United States departing on Monday, February 10, 2014," said the embassy on its Facebook Page and website.

An embassy official, when contacted, declined to say how the threat was received and said officials here could not go beyond the statement.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy advises all U.S. Citizens in Guyana traveling on Caribbean Airlines (CAL) to the United States from Monday, February 10 through Wednesday, February 12, 2014, to make alternate travel arrangements," the diplomatic mission added.
