Convicted abortion clinic bomber now fleeing child molestation charges [View all]

A Washington state man once convicted of firebombing two abortion clinics was being sought Monday for allegedly groping a girl in a grocery store, police said.

Curtis Anton Beseda, 58, was charged with first-degree child molestation Friday when a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police said after they released security footage of the alleged Jan. 27 molestation incident at a Snohomish grocery store last week they received multiple calls identifying Beseda as the suspect. He has since fled his Snohomish apartment and his vehicle was also missing, the Everett Herald reported Saturday.

Beseda was convicted of arson and trespassing after setting fire to two abortion clinics in Washington in 1983 and 1984. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was initially released in 1996 but was sent back to prison a year later for a parole violation. He was finally released in 2003, prison records show.

He is revered among anti-abortion extremists, and has expressed support and admiration for fellow extremists who have killed abortion doctors, the newspaper said. (He received a call of support from Shelley Shannon back in the day who tried to assassinate George Tiller in 1993)
