(3,379 posts)Many people around us had power out for days after last week's ice storm. We've had a lot of damage around here and our county was declared a disaster. So, the looming Nor'Easter, which is expected to dump 12+ inches of heavy snow (thus, the possibility of more damage) on us, is a kick in the face. Our kids have lost.....I've lost count....I think 5 days of school due to weather so far this year. This Friday was actually a make up day for snow. It was originally a day off, then they took it away to make up for one of the snow days, and now it looks like school may be closed. Bah!
The models keep showing scenarios that are worse with each run, so it looks pretty likely that we're gonna get frozen white shit on. I'm still praying that the storm will miraculously weaken or head out to sea.
It sucks for my family because my husband has lost a lot of work due to the snow. He will lose a lot of hours on Thursday and Friday, after fighting to get some extra hours on those days, so it really fucking sucks. On the flipside, I know there are other struggling families just like mine who depend on the snow for extra work (plow truck drivers, etc), so I feel half guilty for wishing the storm away.
Also, fuck snow. Fuck ice.
I hope y'all in the South are safe and that there isn't much damage.
