(89,967 posts)Glad you're here! We don't have this problem in SoCal but I'll say this - it's a foolish person who doesn't have an earthquake kit. The conventional wisdom in Southern California, certainly, and up north, too, I'd bet, is - be prepared to survive on your own for up to three days. It may take that long before any help can reach you. And that means - if you need prescription meds, make sure you've got enough. If you have pets, make sure you have supplies to get them by, too. And always, enough drinking water - or the ability to sterilize it. Batteries. Flashlights. A transistor radio. And non-perishables.
You folks in the storm's path, batten down! I liked what Rachel Maddow recommended tonight - "when in doubt, chicken out." No risk-taking, anybody. Play it safe! I want everybody back here and arguing up a blue streak again in a couple/three days!
