It's an ancient religious tradition in the Seville region of southern Spain. The robes do have some superficial resemblance to KKK robes, but their usage of them is far more ancient. Unlike the KKK, they also come in a lot of different colors. Nazareno processions are preceded by various religous brotherhoods. They all use the same general cut and style, but each order uses a different color to identify themselves.

In spite of the visual similarity of the robes, the Spanish tradition has nothing to do with racism. As an American, they still creep me out a bit.
