2. The gun nuts won't stop until you can have a gun anywhere.....

The ONLY persons (and I have reservations about even this) that should have access to firearms on a school campus are school resource officers that are trained and maintain current skills in the proper use of a firearm to diffuse a potentially deadly situation or, if necessary, take out a gunman. The firearms and ammunition must be in a secure, locked cabinet that is subject to an annual safety inspection.

Teachers are in school to teach, custodians are there to maintain the premises, etc. They are not there as resource offices. That is not their purpose and they lose their "civilian" identity when they enter the school. They assume a very specific role while on campus.

I love that SC has now passed a law that you can carry your guns into bars. There is a requirement that the gun bearer may not drink alcohol while there. Let's see how that is going to play out. First of all the person carrying the gun can in fact conceal it under clothing or, if a woman, in a purse or bag. So it may be difficult for servers to identify these individuals to ensure they are not served. Further if someone toting a gun wants a drink I can see them pulling out the gun and saying, "listen here little lady, I told you to bring me a whisky and you do it now".
