30. Joe had a lot to answer for in that intern death

his family's influence ran deep in the Panhandle of Florida. The coroner was in his family's pocket, the press and media were (and still is) uber conservative, and Joe was well known to have a roaming eye. His alibi of not being in the area when she was found dead could only be collaborated by his friends. His resignation from Congress soon after her death so he could "spend more time with his family" somehow seemed a bit phony.
Joe has dirty hands.
