(13,141 posts)Feminists have not insulted or bullied me, personally, here.
So I can not agree with you.
But I have experienced bullying during many other discussions
that have nothing to do with feminists or women, and
everything to do with a group(s) of egomaniacal know-it-alls.
At least with the feminist issue, I see some background and
justification for the anger many women feel. I know it is
not often directed effectively -- anger rarely is. But it reminds
me always that we have a world full of wounded people and
we need to love each other and be kind and be understanding
and not point fingers, and clean up our own acts.
Think of this: a child is abused, sexually psychologically.
They are small and helpless. The rage is dormant. The
injustice is not understood by the child. They internalize
a ton of shame, self-hate, self-blame. Many women are
now defending themselves against things that happened
a long time ago -- but also a society that has allowed abuse
victims to be silenced and punished. I was one of those.
If somebody directs their anger at me, I duck. I will not
take it personally. On the other hand, if I am attacked
because I have found alternative medicine works better
for me than the other stuff - this is an attack I just don't
understand. And those are some of the nastiest.
If I say one unkind word, ever,
to anybody, I'm not in a position to judge any bully.
Must clean up my own act.
And then anger comes when it is needed, not otherwise.
