There was no reason to have charged him with 1st degree. I'm not defending him. This was definitely prosecutorial misconduct. They did the same thing with Trayvon Martin. They overcharged and left the jury with no choice. At least this jury had the choice of other charges. This prosecutor should be fired. It's hard to tell, since I haven't looked at her record other than this trial and Zimmerman's, whether she overcharges in other cases involving a white person against a black and/or brown person. I think that would be the most interesting line of inquiry.
