Unfortunately I think this is a result of hardline Islam which is currently clashing with the Christians in Nigeria resulting in catastrophe for the LGBT community. It would probably be a lot easier to blame Russia but unfortunately I think the problem is much, much more entrenched.

And back in early 2012, Nigeria was already acknowledged as one of the worst nations for the abuse of the LGBT community...
