30. well you should know at fire lines

we have been having these talks. When you got a bunch of bored local reporters spinning their wheels, we start doing stupid shit with camera phones and talking about things like this.

They are lively debates. The old hands (like me) want editors to stop sanitizing things, from natural disasters, or worst case war.

Hell, we want them to stop sanitizing car crashes. The argument is what if Johnny's family learns of his death at a fiery crash from the news? Ok, wait for the family to be notified. New hands, they have less issues with this, because they are used to it. That is what they grew up with. And people DO NOT want the papers to run really gory photos or video. And if you show somebody getting shot, it does happen, make it so far out that it is hard to tell.

Never mind that Americans consume insane amounts of violence, pretend violence, in Hollywood and TV productions, as well as video games.
