The SI swimsuit issue thread, the one that started all of this mess, was posted by a WOMAN with no ill-intentions. It only became a big deal because a few posters assumed she was a man and was posting it to get a rise out of men. No man commented on that thread that said anything cruel, sexist, or anything else about it. A few people who always like to argue about minuscule things (from both sides) started flinging poo. That's when it became a big deal. We're all on the same side here. But having others call you an "MRA supporter", a "republican", or "Rush Limbaugh supporter" because they don't think exactly the way you think on this subject is way over the line and ridiculous.

And FYI, I put the "B" in LGBT. But my list of priorities is thinking about things that affect everyone right now. I'm more concerned about freshwater running out, fracking, TPP, minimum wage increases, etc. etc. etc., not over the petty squabbling of two factions on DU and not having people telling me what I should be concerned/outraged/thinking about.
