Why the instant hostility to everyone in this thread?

Pretty sure you misconstrued the meaning of my original post. I wasn't even saying 'America is just as bad' though we DO have our own problems. It was just an observation on the surreal outcome; the officers in the Sochi video beat, maced, and otherwise abused the protestors, but I didn't see them bother to arrest, or even escort away from the area, any of the protestors.

Isn't that weird?

Here, an officer hits you in the head with a nightstick (We don't have whips, and we had to ban SPD from carrying 4+ D-Cell flashlights for cracking heads with them) you are going to be arrested and charged with something.

There, the physical violence is there, but... they just walked away.

That's surreal. I didn't and don't know what to make of it.
