I did not accuse the US of anything. I did not dismiss the Russian behavior as better or worse than ours. I did not make a moral judgment about the US's procedures, nothing.
I only observed that in the US, when an officer uses force, you are ALSO going to jail, pretty much without exception. The fact that the Russian police used force, but did not (apparently) arrest anyone, is disturbing to me.
There are multiple associated implications:
1. No arrest, no police report.
2. No police report, little to no evidence the abuse occurred at all.
3. No police report, no idea who the police officers are, so, not much the victims can do to complain to whatever oversight over the police may exist.
Basically the victims have the entire deck stacked against them. They would have to prove that they were THERE, that they were abused, WHO abused them, before going anywhere with that.
The whole thing is just crazy.
