(22,000 posts)Then again, the two wars are not that far removed from where we will be. I think so much time had passed since the Vietnam era and so much apathy had built up prior to 2000-2001 that there were not enough people being vocal about the opposition to war.
Yes, we have a powerful military. No doubt about that. China doesn't yet, but give them about 5-10 years.
My point with North Korea is they are in a proximity to disrupt three big economies in the world: South Korea, Japan, and China. We pretty much know China would fall on the side of North Korea. Japan and South Korea are rather large trading partners with the US. It really only takes an attack against one of them to start a spark. The economic effect would be felt in the US as well as the fact we'd probably be drawn into a conflict. Theoretically it would take a single missile.
