The teenage girl he was involved with was 17 years old. I don't know what the law was in Hawaii at the time this relationship occurred, but at the most he might have been charged with statutory rape if the 17 year old girl had decided to press charges and testify. If the girl had lived in NY State at the time of the relationship it would have been perfectly legal.
