the first step is always acceptance.

YOU are "immune" to the disadvantages of being a woman or non-white.....THAT is privilege. No one is going to pay you less because your skin isn't white and your your gender isn't female....YOU are privileged NOT to be forced to experience those disadvantages....

furthermore it has gotten worse not better:
