It is passed from one ignorant generation to the next, and the more red states try to either control education or stamp it out entirely, the more that will continue to be the way people are raised.

In the thirty years from 1935 and 1965, Germany pretty much learned (albeit the hard way) to stop raising people like that. We haven't learned how to stop raising people like that in 150 years.
