(50,773 posts)8. Here is how it was explained to me: the first shot, your immune system recognizes an
intruder and goes after it. Your reaction might be anything from zero to mild as the immune response is mounted. The body adjusts and kills off the intruder and everyone calms down and goes back to their regular business.
When you get the second shot, your immune system recognizes the intruder again and says, "You again, dammit! I thought we took care of you! Well, we will this time!" The immune response it throws at the intruder is much larger than the first time because it wants to just get rid of the damn thing.

Ulster County said "80,000 seniors qualify" also only 1,500 shots were sent out.
