(62,325 posts)they relied on to protect them from illegitimate cuts to their SS checks, was joining, possibly for the first time airc, Republicans in first, wrongfully blaming SS for the deficit, always mentioning both in the same sentence, hoping for plausible deniability, assuming the people are that easily duped and putting cuts to SS 'on the table' opening the door now forever to making it legitimate for Congress to touch that fund other than making sure it is protected and any surplice goes to those who own it, not to war mongering, corporate Wall St gamblers.
Priorities, the poor, the elderly, the most vulnerable. Protecting Democratic policies that have for decades kept many people from starving to death. We were so proud of those policies, the ones hated by the selfish, greedy Right Corporate tools.
Then it was a sad day when the Offshore Drilling Ban, hard fought for for 30 years, was lifted, not by a Republican, but by a Democrat.
I guess we all have our priorities. I will stand up for any politician who stands up for the people, for SS, for the Environment, for protecting American jobs, for ending tax cuts and subsidies for Corporations who outsource those jobs etc etc and I will be very sad when I see any of those issues being abandoned by my Party. Because we sure can't rely on the other party to protect them.
When President Obama joins Progressive Dems in opposing the destruction of our environment by refusing to support the Keystone pipeline, and the TPP, and permanently ends any discussion of cuts to SS, I will be behind him 100%.
