(7,321 posts)It's been a few days since I wrote that post, and I've been striving to better understand the geopolitical components involved in this 'Clash of the Titans' drama being played out.
At first glance it seems complicated.. a number of players with competing agendas, each armed with their own propaganda mechanisms, media pundits, bloggers, etc spinning deceptive narratives in varying degrees depending on one's point of view.
But I don't think it's all that complicated, really. Not if a broader perspective is taken into account with regard to the unquenching thirst and desire for world dominance and economic hegemony.
There is no question in my mind that the West has greatly overstepped it's position with very predictable consequences. We have refused to heed the call for self-restraint when it comes to meddling with internal affairs of fledgling democracies in the region and simultaneously expanding military presence on the doorsteps of Russia vis a vis NATO.
The response to this 'nose thumbing' from one imperialist to the other is perfectly predictable.
While we wait for the Second Act of this drama to commence, maybe some level of rational thought will prevail, one hopes.
