The day after Merkel's statement became public, Putin held a news conference in which he denied that Russian troops were in Crimea and made so many other fanciful statements that the State Department issued a fact sheet exposing 10 of his most blatant lies. "The world has not seen such startling Russian fiction since Dostoyevsky wrote, 'The formula "two times two equals five" is not without its attractions,'" said the document, posted to the department's website.

I remember someone posted an OP about the State department fact sheet and it was roundly denounced as "propaganda" here. This place is... something.
