(20,776 posts)Subject isn't it? I could talk about forever how stingy and cold Republicans can be. I don't see how they serve the people at all in Congress or the Senate when it comes to helping Americans who really just need a decent meal, even if its just once a day. There are so many organizations in this country who try to help. The Glide Memorial Church is huge here on Thanksgiving day but serve people 7 days a week. The San Francisco food pantries are available and all over the city. I think maybe many cities are finding there are better answers than chasing homeless people out of the city because they think they provide an eye sore for the city.
Many of those homeless are United States Veterans who served proudly in the US Marine Corps, the United States Navy, The US Army, the United States Air Force or the Coast Guard. Some were even Merchant Marines during World War II. Many World War II Vets are still around, and Korea War Veterans. Vietnam Vets and those of Recent times like the Gulf War Vets... who served in Iran, and Afghanistan. The many who are stationed around the world including in North Korea and Japan...
Many who still serve, will soon come home.. and if they need medical attention they should receive it from the Veterans Administration. But when Republicans cut money to such Facilities you have to wonder what they are thinking.. that mostly these people are not important any more..and served their useful purpose. Sometimes when I see what Republicans in Congress do, in regards to Veterans it makes me angry. Its probably why I go once or twice a week and help out where I can.
