162. The Neocons aren't wanting the full out war.

They are wanting a new Cold War. It serves their purpose more. New/old bogeyman, relevant excuse for weapons contracts, new gas/fracking contracts, buying and selling of Ukrainian assets (utilities), the ability to encircle Russia thereby making themselves relevant and more able to direct US foreign policy. War isn't their goal, their own wealth and survival is. That is why they need suckers to follow their lead.

And in the process regular folks here at home get bilked out of a few more dollars for the next bogeyman. It's a win win for the Neocons. I am glad Obama is in charge and balancing out their manipulations but personally I wish we as a country had a deeper understanding of Russia as a whole. We did have a chance to help them after their collapse and we could have done more to bring them into the international fold. Instead we are continuing to pursue policies that drive a wedge. I am glad Obama is not on a war footing but I would hope for him to push back against these neocon subversive outdated actions and dismantle our own surveillance state. It is well past time for the USA to move into the 21st century.
