that most rapists don't think of themselves as rapists. If you were to ask "my" rapist, I'm sure he'd tell you that he felt perfectly entitled to the use of my body, and that my being in no condition to enjoy it, or to give or deny consent (in my case it was not because I was drunk, but because I was severely ill with a very high fever) never entered his mind. He might even admit that it was a shitty thing to do, but rape? I genuinely don't think the thought ever crosses his mind.

That's really the underlying truth about rape culture. What we don't have is a culture of consent, and as a result we've got a situation where people feel entitled to the use of others' bodies.
