(13,688 posts)but ingesting nicotine has been shown to be harmful to the body. There is no question about that. Just Google "the harmful effects of nicotine" and see how many hits you get.
The reason I brought up the fact that e-cigs have not been adequately studied yet is to raise another red flag about their use. Myself, I would not want to use anything that hasn't been studied enough yet to know if it might be harmful or not. Until we know based upon peer reviewed scientific studies of e-cigs that it is not harmful then I would not want to use them.
And after all, as a progressive I have always believed in science. It's the right wing that often rejects science. I will rely upon scientific information about e-cigs and nicotine rather than anecdotes from users.
I also find it notable that when I comment about the possible harmful effects of e-cigs I get snarky responses back. I wish we could have a civil discussion about this without all of the snark.
