33. The Russian government puts a lot of money into RT and they have a great deal of control

editorially. They have a terrible government, and Putin's style of communicating
with Russians goes far past the news cycle. They have state controlled texts
that push the stereotypes of gays to the children in schools and they have the
assistance of the Orthodox church which fuel their other bigoted agendas.

Anti-semitism is an issue in Russia, it's not like here in the US. It has become
better over time, but the population of Jews is small there and this latest
disgrace is not that surprising, all considered.

One thing Putin does as a leader that other governments don't do..he'll
say in effect, yea, there is hypocrisy in our government, but ALL of the
leaders do this..we are just honest about ours. I'm not kidding.

RT is not the kind of different you can completely trust..some Op Eds
which are reprinted elsewhere is another matter altogether.

On edit: It is important, I think, to remember that Pussy Riot support
thus far is small..hopefully that will change over time..they are awesome.
