by definition polls are fluid, malleable, "snapshots" of popular trends...

Disagreeing with Silver is like disagreeing with the weatherman's prediction of weather 60 days in the future...

Having said that, the media coverage of Silver's prediction AND the public reaction to that prediction has been way, way over-the-top...
