(20,203 posts)41. Star Trek: The Next Generation helped Fox Network get off the ground
I can remember calling the local cable company in Los Angeles frantic to find what channel Fox was going to be so I wouldn't miss the premiere TNG episode. The cable company phone person insisted there wasn't a Fox channel. I yelled at her "Yes there is! It's a new network! Why don't you know about it, you're the cable company!" We each thought the other was nuts, but I was right (and didn't end up missing the premiere).

Probably a correlation to people liking the show, and also having modern tech like a DVR.
