but if you have a doctor who is on your side, he may be able to put pressure on the insurance company. My kid treats children with severe genetic disorders. When an insurance co. did not want to pay for some very expensive meds, she said that she felt that the only way she could care for the child in a responsible way, without the prescribed treatment, was to admit her to the hospital in order to monitor her condition, possibly for quite a while. The company decided it was cheaper to provide the needed meds.
