I also abandoned FB soon after getting on. You cannot avoid the political and religious topics there, since almost everyone is posting something political or religious. I found that if I stayed on there, I would have hated some people who I liked, but on a more superficial level than deep discussion.....I had no idea how batshit they were. And I didn't want to know.
I can agree that vital topics needing discussion instead of bias and anger......I say let them go first because we have no belief that they will be rational.
