(61,179 posts)The real scary think for me as a Jew is that the failure of the unprecedented push for a two state solution would mean very serious thoughts of whether I personally could support Israel at all. It would be a de facto proof that there will not be a two state solution any time in the near future. Given that Israel is still continuing to build settlements, it will become even more impossible. (Additionally, I doubt anyone of similar stature would have been willing to work as hard as Kerry has on this - and if it fails, they would be even less likely.)
That leaves only the possibility of one state. I would gladly support one state, where all inhabitants have the same rights throughout the entire Israel/occupied territories area. However, I see NO WAY that Israeli politicians would ever voluntarily allow this to happen at this time. That leaves Israel and its occupied territories - that are not free nor part of Israel. Add the settlement process that gives more and more land to Jews and it is completely anti democratic and immoral that this has continued to be the case since 1967.
