I don't even have tv anymore - if I want to watch something, I go to a friend's house cause he has the whole deal, huge tv, etc. and bring something to eat or a book, etc. Or I watch hulu or whatever.
My kids are older now, but even in elementary school, they were already getting wise to the ways they were marketed to. We lived overseas for a bit and when we came back, all their friends were crazy for some action figure thing of the day and they sort of saw how their lives hadn't been ruined b/c they didn't know about the latest kid fad.
Yeah, I stopped watching a lot of stuff when my kids were young. I also played so much music for them, I used to joke about knowing every word to songs I hated - the Barney era...

I would never use it but i highly recommend it for people who just don't get along.
