(6,064 posts)The Geek Squad support option (I believe it's called) is a type of insurance for several items. Your extended warranty is for the item you purchased. The Geeks Squad option certainly covers hardware (labor not parts) and software. I'm reading right off their literature ("Troubleshooting assistance for all computer related issues. Hardware or software installation. Operating System installation and repairs. On-demand access to how-to videos. Discounts on Geek Squad services"
. I didn't buy the extended warranties with my laptops because the manufacturer's warranty wasn't too bad so I bought the Geek Squad support for not much difference in cost to cover several items. Plus within 30 days you can return computers to Best Buy for replacement, repair or return. If it works for 30 days, it'll probably work for a couple years. Long enough not to be obsolete. Keep screaming though. Work your way up the management ladder. At some point, someone will want to either make you happy or want to shut you up. It worked for me with Chrysler years ago.
