13. Couple of reasons

Apr 2014

Vietnam shattered our view of "invincibility". Then OPEC kicked us in the teeth economically. Then we learned our president was a liar and a crook and that the CIA/FBI was spying on us and committing illegal activities (assassination, drug experiments, black bag jobs).

Of course, from 2000 on, it was deja vu all over again, but the younger generation didn't live through the 70's and a lot of the people who did got old and stopped thinking since Fox News and Rush were prepared to think for them.
