6. "Over the top"?

No matter how hard he tries Colbert can never top the reality of how fucked up Republicans are. When you are dealing with a political party that believes that the minimum wage should be abolished, that working 2 or 3 jobs is "Uniquely American" , that getting health care, food, and assistance to the people who need it is a bad thing, that the invasion of Iraq was a resounding success, that torture is a good thing, etc, etc... there is no such thing as "over the top".
