Colorado husband shot wife in the head after eating pot, say police [View all]

LOS ANGELES — A mother-of-three was shot dead by her husband whom police believe had taken cannabis in Colorado, the first U.S. state where the drug is legal for recreational use.

Kristine Kirk, 44, dialled 911 and told the emergency dispatcher her husband Richard, 47, was hallucinating, talking about “the end of the world”, and scaring their young children after eating an edible form of the drug.

...

His brother, Shane, told local television news outlets that he was “shocked” that Kirk would be using cannabis.

“I’m wondering, this marijuana, wherever he got it from... I didn’t know marijuana could do this,” he said.

“He lives for his family and that’s why this is so out of left field. He’s a great, hard-working father and husband. All he did was work for his kids.”
