You can defend yourself against a knife. A bullet, not so much. It is a lot harder to drive a knife into a person's skull and takes a lot longer. He was able to kill her with just one bullet to her head. Didn't have to struggle with her and could claim it was a momentary delusion. But anyone who has smoked pot knows it doesn't make you murderous or even aggressive. His defense attorney will probably make sure there are no pot smokers on his jury.
