(14,912 posts)home, 2 at another home where 1 of the guys was laying dead in the driveway, the other in the house. They had all been CHEWING on the damned patches! Those patches are supposed to be time released and has enough opiates to last for 2 DAYS!! I only know that because I'm in pain management and my insurance will only pay for 15 patches every 30 days. I read up on it, and it says the dosage could be fatal, even if used properly, to people who haven't been on high doses of opiods for a long period of time. There is no way in the world that I would ever touch that stuff and would refuse it if my pain management doctor ever prescribed it.
Inside the house where they found the 2 dead, there were 2 other prescription bottles, one for oxycodone & one for xanax. Both were empty...after just having been filled 4 days earlier..
I wish Tennessee would hurry the hell up and pass either full legalization, or at least medical use, of cannabis. I know several people who started doing pills or meth after they got busted for pot. Gotta be clean for probation piss test. One joint can stay in your system for 30 days, most opioids, cocaine and meth is gone within 24 to 72 hours. Pot isn't a gateway drug to harder drugs... it's the legal system (probation & urine screens) after being arrested for pot that opens the gateway. People still want to get high so they find another way... and those ways are much more dangerous, as well as addictive, where pot isn't addictive.
