17. We have two iPad's, a Mini, and two Fires in our house...

for some things any of them will do...but overall I like the iPad mini the most. It works well on wifi or the cell phone line, the operating system is great, playing movies is easy and the resolution is fine.

The Fire is good for books and movies, but it's usually slower and tricky to use with wifi sometimes.

The iPad is great for FaceTime too.

At any rate, when I buy the next generation tablet I'll look at at the iPad first.

I'm sure it depends on what you want to do. BTW, I had both a Blackberry and an Android phone, but recently switched to an Iphone5. It simply works well, and connects better than the Android. Fewer crazy updates, unwanted software that you can't remove, and security problems. At this point I'm glad I made the switch.
