Many years ago on my way home from school I picked up a small twig from a weeping willow that had blown off during a storm the previous night. I planted it in a small flower pot to see if what would happen (I think we were studying something along those lines in school at the time).
It grew. We transplanted it into the southwest corner of our lot in town. It eventually grew to more than 20 feet tall. It's gone now - a windstorm took it down some years ago (don't know exactly when, we'd long since moved).
