Its a cornelian choice, really.

If you respond to attacks, the go ore and more aggressive, no matter if you do it by direct or indirect response or, even when you stay back on the main topic discussed.

If you stay silent, the haze goes on, more and more aggressive.

The best way to respond is to kick them out and even report them.
Im not American. But I have been trashed in some words that might got an ear from FBI or police really.....
