that most gun owners are as they are characterized around here.

I know a lot of people who own guns (and I used to interact with many more when I was in the reloading industry) and carrying to a bar isn't something they would think of doing anyway (although some might if they weren't drinking/picking someone up from a bar/etc).

There will always be those few of course - but let's also look at something else, a more rational way of looking at it.

A friend took me and my daughter out last night to Smokey Bones for dinner. Ribs, etc, to celebrate her 13th bday (belatedly).

They serve alcohol there. Many places one goes to eat probably do. Now, if someone had a gun would rather them leave it in the car (where it can be stolen and used in a crime) or keep it with them? I stopped many places on the way home when I was an armed guard (and since I owned the gun and we didn't have storing on premise I kept it with me obviously) if I stopped and got something to eat at a place that serves alcohol and took it in with me I could go to jail. If I leave it in the car and someone stole it people would blame me when it was used in a crime (and yes, people on DU will blame victims of crimes when it helps them with a cause).
