(23,272 posts)The school brings in drug sniffing dogs who just go down the row of lockers. The dogs "alert" on a locker that has weed or weed residue. That locker is then opened and searched, the kid is brought into the principal's office for questioning. I presume that's what happened to Trayvon. Its pretty SOP in most schools. My daughter's been going through a rough time with drugs in the past year and the dog "alerted" on her school locker last year so I know the protocol (fwiw, I was called by the school as soon as the dog hit on her locker, even before they pulled her out of class for a search and questioning).
My daughter had no paraphernalia or drugs, or even empty pot baggies (but she could have) THAT day so she was let off but that just means the teachers, admin and police liaison know who to keep tabs on at the school for potential drug trouble.
I suspect Trayvon had been caught with other paraphernalia or even drugs in the past, and was suspended because he came up with suspicious MJ items (again?). A 10 day suspension is pretty serious stuff so this wasn't a first offense imho.
