A main newsmaking guest, say Senator JFK, would face a panel of journalists of different political leanings, all of whom would be asking the newsmaker questions.

It devolved into a segment of "Meet winger Tim Russert," followed by a segment of panel discussion, at which the newsmaker du jour would not even be present. Nothing like original Meet the Press. But, obviously, they kept the name so they could claim to be the oldest show.

It became MTPINO. Meet the Press In Name Only.
