I've heard Bill O'Reilly take the serious side of this argument where he carps about how he "donates money" to the "social programs" he approves of, so he doesn't want his taxes to go to people he presumably doesn't think is deserving enough. He explains this with a surprisingly straight face.

The point is lost to him that everyone has a short list of things we don't want the govt spending our tax money on, but no one in charge cares. He just thinks he's freaking special because he's on TV and he "works hard for his money", as he so snobbishly puts it.
