In the old Norse belief - Odin was indeed associated with war - with battle victory and death - but he was also associated with wisdom - knowledge of everything - he was kind of a Over-king over all the other goods - both bad and good ones - when he spoke - you better listen - or else...

I'm nor sure about what beer you are talking about there - Odin brew it sounds like something that really could kick your head when you drink to Mitch of it - specially the day thereafter when the brew do its business inside your body... But anyway I guess it was some strong beer you was drinking back in the days then
