I think it's probably about 50-50 when it comes to candidates believing or not they have a chance. Santorum I think is one of those who knows he has no chance, but he stays in the game in order to make sure his political interests stay at the forefront as well as make some money. Others, though, live in such a bubble that they believe that their opinions and the crazies who support them make up the majority of Americans, and even when they go down in flames, they still don't face the reality of the situation. West is one of them. Yes, he'll also try to make money off his run because republicans don't do anything if there's no money in it for them.
