running for the house? You can't even see the house. She explained in interviews that she went to make sure the dog was not coming back for another try and to head him off if necessary, which I believe that's what she did and did get bit in the process. As a mother, she probably would rather risk an attack on her than risk an attack on BOTH as she's carrying him off.

No second attack happened as a result of her actions. At least she was there quickly instead of sitting in the house on her cell phone, not paying attention, completely unaware it was all happening.

I fail to see how she did anything wrong since this could have been a whole lot worse. It all worked out extremely well under the circumstances. The injuries to the boy weren't too bad (10 stitches, but could have been so much worse), the cat was not attacked by the dog and the mother was able to prevent a second attack on her son and a more serious attack on herself.
