They probably escaped notice...if 100 of them had shown up, DC MPD would have hauled them in under national security concerns to be questioned by federal agents from the alphabet-soup agencies. (FBI, CIA, NSA, DIA, USPP, DHS, OCI, FPS, USSS, DHSOIG, HSI, ICE...when you're talking about overthrowing the government and fomenting an insurrection on US soil, everybody gets a crack at you. Also, I got bored...that's barely scratching the surface of US Federal LE agencies.)
Been there, done that...they'd like to avoid it. After one of my idiot friends liberated research animals in college from a US Army lab on campus, I had to spend the better part of 18 hours explaining that I had no idea he was an idiot and that he wouldn't have told me because he knew I'd have told them since my life's ambition was to be a US intelligence asset.
